Exhibition opening: "When Antarctica shows its heart to scientists"
On 11.06.2021 (Friday) from 18:00 in the Regional Museum of Natural History - Plovdiv will be opened an Antarctic photo exhibition and an exhibition of minerals, rocks, paleontological finds and samples of modern marine fauna, entitled "When Antarctica shows its heart to scientists." The opening program includes a greeting from the director of the museum, Ch. Assistant Professor Dr. Ognyan Todorov and the initiator of the event Assoc. Prof. Lyubomir Kenderov, presentation of the participants, the photo exhibition and museum exhibits, as well as exciting stories about the Bulgarian mission in Antarctica by Prof. Hristo Pimpirev - Director of the National Center for Polar Research, Chairman of the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute and doyen of the Bulgarian polar expeditions. The event will continue with a multimedia presentation presenting the National Program for Polar Research, the logistics of the Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition and the Antarctic Base "St. Cl. Ohridski ”on Livingston Island. The interesting presentation will be given to the audience of the museum by Mr. Dragomir Mateev - coordinator of science and logistics of IBA, head of logistics of NCPI. The exhibition "When Antarctica shows its heart to scientists" will visit RPNM - Plovdiv and in July, visitors will be able to see it as part of the exhibition, and at the opening on 11.06.2021 all guests will have the chance to hear the presentation of the photos and the museum samples from the live exhibition by the scientists ch. Assistant Professor Dr. Ralitsa Sabeva, Dr. Denitsa Apostolova, Chief Assistant Professor Dr. Stefan Velev and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lubomir Kenederov. Well-known Bulgarian researchers will tell more about the scientific fields in which they work. The opening event will be free of charge, and up to 50% of the maximum number of visitors for the respective exhibition hall will be allowed in the premises.
