Bulletin of the Natural History Museum \u2013 Plovdiv (Bull. Nat. Hist. Mus. Plovdiv) is the official scientific bulletin of the Regional Natural History Museum \u2013 Plovdiv, published by Plovdiv University Press. The journal accepts submissions of original studies in the field of palaeontology, natural history, geology and speleology, zoology, botany, ecology, biogeography, museology, history of natural sciences, information about museum collections, etc. The official language of the journal is English. Exceptions are possible, certain manuscripts may be published in Bulgarian language, with extensive English summary.<\/p>\n
Once an article is accepted, it is published online first immediately. Manuscripts may be rejected without peer review if they do not comply with the instructions for authors or if the editor estimates that they are beyond the scope of the journal. The journal allows the author(s) to hold the copyright without restrictions.<\/p>\n
Bulletin of the Natural History Museum \u2013 Plovdiv follows the standards for Ethics and Publication Malpractice set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Conformance to standards of ethical behavior is therefore expected of all parties involved: Authors, Reviewers, Editors, and the Publisher.\u00a0Manuscript submissions are welcome.<\/p>\n

\nType: Open Access, hard copy and electronically. Free of charge to publish.<\/p>\nIn 1970, the Natural History Museum \u2013 Plovdiv issues Volume 1 of the journal “Bulletin of the Natural Science Museum \u2013 Plovdiv\u201d. In 1973 Volume 2 was released.<\/p>\n
Before the release of the independent journal of the Natural History Museum \u2013 Plovdiv, researchers at the museum published their articles in “Annuals of the Museums in the Plovdiv Region” and from 1975 in “Bulletin of the museums in Southern Bulgaria”, which was published until 1995 (a total of 21 volumes).<\/p>\n
With the establishment of the Bulletin of the Natural History Museum \u2013 Plovdiv in 2016, the Regional Natural History Museum \u2013 Plovdiv resumed the publication of its scientific journal. The initiative was conceived by Dimitar Bechev<\/a>, whose vision laid the foundation for the journal’s revival. Its successful launch was made possible through the substantial contributions of Ivelin Mollov<\/a>, Ognyan Todorov<\/a>, and Dilian Georgiev<\/a>. During the journal’s formative years, Assoc. Prof. Ivelin Mollov served as Co-Editor-in-Chief and played a leading role in establishing its editorial framework, scientific standards, and development.<\/p>\n
The journal accepts for publishing short messages (up to 4 pages), original research papers (from 4 to 10 pages) and review articles (over 10 pages) in the above mentioned fields and formatted according to the instructions for authors.<\/p>\n
The logo of the journal is the paleoendemic beetle Rhodopaea angelovi<\/em> Gruev & Tomov, 1968, known only from a small area in the Rhodope Mountains, south of Plovdiv. The species is named after Professor Emeritus Pavel Angelov, one of the first directors of the museum, who collected the type specimens.<\/p>\n
