During his 46-year career at the National Museum of Natural History (Sofia, Bulgaria), Prof. Boev pioneered the fields of avian osteology, paleornithology, and archaeornithology in Bulgaria. He founded three new ornithological branches in the country: (1) osteology, (2) exterior morphology and (3) paleo- and archaeo-ornithology. His work includes describing 41 avian taxa new to science and establishing one of the most significant paleornithological collections in Europe.
